When
the council was formed there were no surrounding parishes. St. Mary was it. The
council met at the parish.
A few years later the council purchased the old
Odd fellows hall in downtown Escondido to serve as its council home and renamed
it Monsignor Lawler hall in honor of the Priest at St Mary who was instrumental
in forming the council.
